In September 2021 three quarters of the current DateMonthYear team went to Bagnall Hill Studios in Te Pahu, New Zealand to run through a reinterpretation of one of our much loved NZ songs ‘Numbers’
Its a substantial change- with Brooke Baker now on lead vocals, the song has gone through a re-evaluation and reinvention as a dark and soulful acoustic track- the challenge being to maintain the intensity at a low dynamic.
We think we have done that- the lyrics feel eerily more relevant now than they did four years ago, and this version seems to reflect on the current dark times in Aotearoa.
Each version is different! This is take was the one take where we lost the visual, but got a good performance, and so here it is! Audio only- you will not hear this version anywhere else.
